We asked one
of the retreatees for her thoughts on the weekend:
"Being on the retreat provided me with an opportunity
to connect with myself, my feelings and my body in a deeper
way than I am able to do in my everyday life. The early morning
yoga, with the blazing fire and the cold stone floor, felt
surreal and yet so grounding - it became a representation
of the contrast of opposites and I was no longer just moving
my body into specific postures but also integrating the basic
elements within me until I could no longer distinguish what
was outer or inner. I was able to witness myself in my characteristic
mode of relating to people and then able to challenge this
such that I felt more able to be spontaneous, open and to
be without judgement in relation to myself and others. I enjoyed
connecting with each person and getting a sense of who they
are and what holds meaning for each one of them in their lives.
Being in a natural environment was special and helped me reconnect
with that part of me that feels connected to everything. One
night while gazing at the stars, my Finnish roommate and I
witnessed a shooting star which felt so close that we could
see the vivid red, green and blue in its tail. It arched across
the sky and in that moment it was like we knew we were present
to the magic of the universe. The pranayama and walking meditation
at sunset helped me further focus my mind such that I was
able to let go of egoic concerns and mental distractions and
access a sense of stillness and peace which still pervades
my being today. Last but not least, our gorgeous chefs nurtured
not only my body but my soul too, with their aromatic, wholesome
and tantalisingly delicious food. Thank you to all of you,
for sharing and co-creating this experience with me."
